Betterway Press

Help for compulsive overeating

Help with special-needs children

Betterway Press was established by writers and public speakers Mike Moran and Linda Moran for the purpose of publishing materials on their two favorite topics—normal eating and disabilities. Most of the materials are free. We refer to all of our help for disordered eating as Diet Survivors. We refer to our help for parents of special-needs children as Life Planners.

Diet Survivors

Solutions for compulsive overeating

Linda Moran offers several resources for folks fed up with their dieting lives and are ready to try normal eating. These materials are for anyone with an eating disorder, compulsive overeating, binge eating, night eating, stress eating, emotional eating, diet addiction, yo-yo dieting, and any problems related to disordered eating.

The Diet Survivors way is to learn normal eating. Distraught dieters learn to "tune in" to their hunger and satiety signals. Food and diet addicts learn basic principles of cognitive therapy to help them melt away their black and white thinking, also referred to in psychological literature as "all or nothing" thinking.

Moran's book, How to Survive Your Diet and Conquer Your Food Issues Forever, embraces these principles and is a real bargain on Amazon.com. You can buy it used or new. This book is endorsed by cognitive therapist Dr. Michael R. Edelstein.

These Diet Survivors resources are free:

  1. The Diet Survivors meditations. Words to ponder to help chase away the diety thinking.
  2. The Yahoo! Diet Survivors message board serves over a thousand members and is steadily growing.
  3. Linda's Diet Survivors blog offers a personal meditation almost every day for Diet Survivors. You can visit the blog directly, or you can also find it linked to in a daily post from Linda Moran on the Yahoo! message board. In addition, the latest blog entry makes an appearance on some of the betterwaypress.com pages.

Life Planners

Future life planning for your child with special needs

Mike and Linda Moran create some resources for parents and caregivers of children (and adults) with disabilities. Most of the materials provide help in writing your child's Letter of Intent. What is a Letter of Intent?

  1. View the current issue of the free Life Planners newsletter
  2. A free copy of our own child's Letter of Intent for you to download. (Sensitive material has been changed.) This MS Word document has been scanned for viruses and is safe to download
  3. What is the Life Planners newsletter?
  4. Linda's published articles about children with special needs

Why these two kinds of help?

The authors are parents of four children ranging in age from fifteen down to nine. The oldest one is multiply handicapped. They have written their own special needs child's Letter of Intent, and would like to help others do the same.

In addition, they have a passion for helping folks quit the diet addiction.
